8:07 AM - Ren Fest volunteers needed for Iowa Public Television. (posted by Webmaster)

On behalf of the Des Moines Renaissance Faire, I am assembling members of our acting, vending and volunteer community to join in the spirit of community service this Spring. Two worthy organizations need our help, answering phones for their telethons.

The Variety Club of Iowa, a children's charity, has it's telethon on Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th at Adventureland in Altoona.

Also in March, Iowa Public Television will be hosting their Festival telethon over sixteen days, beginning on March 3rd and ending on Sunday, March 18th at their studio, located in Johnston, Iowa.

We would like to provide enthusiastic renaissance costumed volunteers for both of these Iowa institutions. At least two dozen people are needed, with room for more!

For Iowa Pulblic Television, the date and time is Saturday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) from 6pm-11pm. 22 volunteers are needed, age 16 or older.

Interested individuals should contact me, Lynne Melssen - Community Relations Director by emailing:

May life treat you Royally!

3:51 PM - 2007 Season Details! (posted by Webmaster)
Details for this year's Des Moines Ren Faire at Festival Park are being finalized.

Cast / Street Performers:

Open auditions will be held in coming months, so if you are interested in joining the cast, stay tuned (or take the initiative and contact us early).

Stage / Musical Acts:

Acts interested in performing at this year's event are encouraged to send in a demo (a performance video from a similar event, if you can, so we can see your costumes and how you interact with the crowds). Please include a list of events you have performed at, and letters of recomendation are a plus. Send your package to:

Des Moines Ren Faire
c/o Sleepy Hollow
4051 Dean Ave
Des Moines, IA 50317

Non-Entertainment Workers:

If you are looking to participate as a non-performer, there will be opportunities to assist in retail (working booths), parking, custodial and similar areas. Clubs and groups (Boy Scouts, etc.) may want to contact event management to see about working as a fundraiser. Got an idea? Let us know.

Vendors / Demonstrators:

Festival Park will allow the addition of a few more merchant shops this year. Contact Rick Flatt at 515-262-4100 for details.

Demonstrators wanting to demonstrate and vend from the Guild Hall or on the main street merchant shops are encouraged to contact Greg at 641-357-5177. Ideally these shops should all be used for demonstrating artisans (guild hall) or unique hade made items, but if you have a product line you think our guests would like, please pitch us your idea.

Construction Update:

Once the snow melts, some finishing work will resume of Festival Park. This is planned to include permanent toilet facilities for the public (what? a renfest that doesn't only have portapotties?), landscaping, and the completion of some building projects from last year. There will also be some new merchants added.
